This topic is especially close to my heart because I truly love writing and blogging. Anku and I have been blogging since 2017, and over the years, that passion for writing has led us on an incredible journey.

If you love writing and are looking for real ways to earn from it, you’ve landed on the right page.

So, if you’re ready, let’s dive into some proven ways to make money as a writer.

Blogging is still one of the best ways to make money if you enjoy writing and have expertise or even just interest in a topic.

And don’t worry if you don’t have a degree or advanced knowledge. You can still start blogging even if you’re at an intermediate level.

In 2025, there are plenty of profitable niches to explore – recipes, food, drinks, event planning, fitness, gardening, tech, gaming, and many more.

Once you start getting traffic from Google and Pinterest, you can easily earn thousands of dollars through a combination of Display Ads, Affiliate Marketing and Digital Products.

Start blogging today and aim to earn $100–$200 by the end of Month 2, and even $1,000 by Month 4!

2. Make money with Freelance Writing

Freelance writing is another proven method to make thousands of dollars online.

Yes, getting started can be tough but in today’s world, that’s true for any business. Everything will feel difficult at first if you’re not skilled and well-prepared.

The good news is, you can still find work as a beginner. Many small businesses and startups are constantly looking for quality writing services at an affordable budget.

As you complete more projects and earn positive reviews, you’ll be in a position to charge more for your work.

Most beginners start with a rate of $15 to $30 per hour, but with experience, you can easily earn $50 to $100 per hour or more.

To get started, create a strong profile on platforms like Freelancer.com, Upwork, and Fiverr. Make sure your profile is detailed, concise, and highlights your strengths clearly.

Ready for a few quick tips?

  • When sending your first proposal, keep it short and to the point.
  • Avoid using phrases like “Give me a chance to prove myself.” Focus on the value you bring instead.
  • Always read the Terms of Service of the platform you’re using.
  • Get a good understanding of the current demand in the writing industry.

Stay professional, consistent, and you’ll land your first client in no time!

3. Make money by Teaching

If you have a strong command over a language and enjoy writing casually, helping others fall in love with that language can be a rewarding way to earn.

You can teach students the art of writing whether it’s – creative writing, blogging, journalism, or storytelling.

Many people who want to become novelists, journalists, or bloggers look for writing coaches on platforms like Varsity Tutors and Chegg.

If you have the skills and the ability to teach, you can start earning $26–$49 per hour.

As you gain positive reviews and experience, you can gradually increase your rates and earn even more for your time and effort.

But before you start daydreaming about all the income you can make, remember this path requires more than just writing skills 😛

You’ll also need strong communication abilities, as teaching involves connecting with your students and helping them truly understand.

A subject expert isn’t always a great teacher. Teaching is a work of heart, and if you’re passionate and patient, this can be an incredibly fulfilling way to earn as a writer.

4. Make money by Script Writing

Script writing is another popular and in-demand skill in the online world.

YouTube and other video platforms aren’t going anywhere, and neither is the demand for quality scriptwriters.

Many YouTubers and content creators are actively looking to hire scriptwriters for both long-term and short-term projects. While tools like ChatGPT exist, they’re not the go-to choice for everyone.

Many creators still prefer a human touch that aligns with their tone, style, and audience.

If you can deliver well-structured, engaging scripts tailored to a creator’s format and content style, you can start earning $20–$50 per script, typically around 500 to 700 words.

Of course, you won’t land high-paying clients on day one. You’ll need to build a strong portfolio first. With experience and quality work, you can charge $50–$150 or more per script, depending on the word count and level of research required.

To get started, join platforms like Freelancer.com, Upwork, and Fiverr. Once you’ve built up some experience, you can directly reach out to YouTubers via email and share your portfolio.

If you’re lucky and skilled, you might land a long-term collaboration!

If you love writing, there are several proven ways you can try and start earning.

In this post, we shared roles that we’ve either personally tried or know someone close who is currently earning through them.

The key is to get on the right path. Identify the area where you can truly put your skills to work.

For example, if you’re not confident about teaching students how to write, then don’t pursue it, even if it pays more than other options.

Choose a role that genuinely interests you. That’s the only way you’ll be able to stick with it for the long run.

I hope I was able to share something valuable with you.
